Donald J. Trump announce the winner of the 2016 Presidential Election. Donald J. Trump becomes the 45th President of the United States Victory song aside, today is truly one for the books. Donald Trump has defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential Election, snagging roughly 280+ electoral votes at the current moment—with many more still being counted. This moment will go down in history as one of the most surreal uphill battles in all of politics. The pundits, analysts, pollsters, media, political elites, and world leaders were all wrong. At the beginning of this very tough presidential run, pundits like Nate Silver (from FiveThirtyEight) have said over and over again during the primary season that Donald Trump had less than a 1% chance of snagging the Republican nomination, let alone striding all the way to the White House. It is hard for anyone to predict what comes next, for Hillary supporters it is obvious that some form of retaliation must occur to stop Trump from becoming the President—but at the current moment that seems quite impossible. For Trump supporters however, they are celebrating and hoping that the President Elect can deliver on his many promises. Tough stances on immigration, the wall between the United States and Mexico, Conservative Supreme Court justices, lower taxes, better trade deals, inner city reform, and enhanced education are all things that the plethora of Trump voters will be praying for in the coming years—and after all we have seen so far, no one can say for sure that many of these things won’t happen. President Obama has conceded and congratulated Trump for his victory, stating that he will honor democracy and the peaceful transition of power. The world is watching, and Donald J. Trump has a lot of promises to perform on. What comes next, nobody knows.
