VP Nominee Mike Pence Endorses Paul Ryan After Talks With Trump Brett Gifford August 3, 2016 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Mike Pence shockingly endorses Paul Ryan today after talks with Trump. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has formally endorsed Paul Ryan’s run for re-election during a phone interview with Fox News earlier today. He stated in his interview that Trump “strongly encouraged me to endorse Paul Ryan in next Tuesday’s primary”. This news comes as a bit of a shock after Trump has recently stated that he was not going to choose a side and endorse either Ryan or McCain following his nomination for President. Pence stated: I strongly support Paul Ryan, strongly endorse his re-election Paul Ryan is running against Paul Nehlen in Tuesdays election, and Nehlen has previously stated that he would be open to an endorsement from Trump, but it seems after this information that Trump/Pence are going to be on the side of Ryan. Nehlen stated that he has not asked for an endorsement from Trump but he would gladly accept it, also going as far to say that Trump could potentially “screw up” his Presidential run by endorsing him instead of Ryan. Major news outlet CNN is already trying to flip the script saying that VP nominee Mike Pence is ‘breaking’ from Trump by endorsing Ryan; when in the same article they lay out that Pence had talked with Mr. Trump about the endorsement. Many critics are already speculating that the Trump campaign planned this surprise endorsement in order to sway the media cycle away from the silly Khan family controversy that has been haunting the Trump campaign for the last 5 days.
